Project Management

GEOJAN – specialists in the management of finance, performance and business intelligence projects
From definition and justification through to initiation, delivery and closure, we manage the entire lifecycle of all types of business intelligence, finance and performance management projects.
Project Management at Geojan:
Geojan has developed a highly specialised project management methodology, especially suited for projects involving the deployment of performance management and business intelligence solutions.
In our experience, an effective performance management and/or business intelligence project must meet ten critical success criteria (CSFs):
- Clear top-down articulation and communication of the project or programme – its context, its objectives and how it relates to the overall direction of the business.
- Clarity of the project’s critical success factors and their changing dynamics over time.
- Clearly communicated ownership, accountability and dependencies established for all executives and functions.
- A supportive engagement and development culture: steps are taken to ensure that stakeholders are engaged and inspired by the programme or project.
- Clear communication of the benefits (direct and indirect) to the customer (internal and/or external).
- Critical capabilities articulated and plans in place to address gaps.
- Governing organisation decision processes in place, (e.g. approvals) with clear roles and accountability aligned to support capabilities, together with a workable migration plan.
- Close fit with strategic initiatives.
- Business case and adequate progress reporting in place.
- Ability to measure contribution against overall business goals and strategies.
Working in close collaboration with your business, we will ensure all CSFs are met to ensure successful completion. If desired, we are able to work within and augment your existing project management framework.
Our project process involves a unique ‘cascade’ approach (see illustration below) which ensures that all projects are aligned to your business strategy. All projects undertaken by Geojan are designed to merge with the overall context of your organisation.
We are able to take direct responsibility for all activities of a project: its participants, tasks and deliverables. We provide a main point of contact and co-ordination for both internal and external parties, such as suppliers and contractors, regulatory bodies, customers, stakeholders and other third parties.
From definition and justification through to initiation, delivery and closure, we manage the entire lifecycle of your project, ensuring that all parties are doing what is required to deliver a successful outcome.
Define a set of strategic outcomes to determine when the organisation has met its desired objectives.
Strategic Initiatives
Establish a detailed description of the programme, designed to close the gap between current and desired outcomes. Strategic initiatives tend to be outcome-driven, rather than being bound by time or resources.

Finance, Project Management And Business Intelligence Projects
A finance and project management and / or business intelligence project is underpinned by clear performance objectives and outcomes. Projects are usually ‘owned’ by the Finance Director of CIO or the CEO office; they are normally time and resources-bound, and form part of one or more strategic initiatives.
